Springing into Health

The beginning of fall sessions of “Springing into Health” is set for Saturday, November 21st from 1:30-3:30 at St. Paul’s Parish basement, Goulds.  All members and their siblings are invited to attend. (Free for members)

Please email joannemcdonald@nlesd.ca if your child(ren) would like to attend or you would like more information about the program.

Pancake Breakfast

Our annual pancake breakfast was a huge success. Such a fantastic morning celebrating our children, families and NLDSS. A special thank you to Annette for organizing the event and to our NLDSS members who volunteered their time. Also sending a HUGE thank you to the following:

Down Syndrome Awareness Week November 1-7

Down syndrome awareness week starts today! It runs from November 1-7 and we have a fun filled week planned. Throughout this week our families celebrate by spreading awareness about Down syndrome and celebrating our children and families.

Provincial Proclamation Signing Oct. 29th (see post below) Halloween Dance Party Sunday, Nov. 1st.
City Hall’s Proclamation Signing Monday, Nov. 2nd.

Provincial Proclamation Signing

On October 29th, NLDSS members met with the Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Community Services, for the Down Syndrome Awareness Week Provincial Proclamation Signing. We would like to thank Minister Kent, Tina Williams (Director of Communications), and everyone who was involved from the Department of Health and Community Services, for the warm reception and for making this important day a special one. We would also like to thank all of our members who were in attendance: Adam Johnston, Shawn Pumphrey, Ruby Thorne and Julia Power, Angela and Abigail Roberts, Kelli and Jessi Daw, Richard Daw, Michelle and Ilesh Sharma.

Our Annual FREE Pancake Breakfast is on Saturday, November 7 from 9:30-12:30. Always a great family event with amazing entertainment. Down syndrome Awareness week is November 1-7! Come out and help us celebrate!

NLDSS Play Group

We are organizing a play date at the office on Friday, October 9th from 10:30 am – 12:00.  All parents and children are encourage to come out, get together and have some fun. New members are welcome.
